Once
upon a mid- night dreary (thank you edgar) I came upon this majickal
site. It seemed fitting that I should find it between
the dark and the daylight hours when my portion of the world was
sleeping. Finally as my eyes and body refused to cooperate for even
another moment with my brain, I reluctantly closed my browser window
and trotted off to bed, with dreams of far off mystical places dancing
in my head. Her paintings are beautiful, her tutorials are to be
envied, and as a whole her site is indeed a web . . . so beautifully
woven that you become enticed deeper and deeper. . .
Dr. Thaddeus Ozone . . .words just cannot do him
justice. Here you shall find one of the supreme talents of the net.
He will titillate you with his graphics and effects. Rollovers? Not just
the insipid, gratuitous, look-ma-I-can-do-rollovers, that are rapidly (or
should I say vapidly) becoming the polyester equivalent on the net. . .no
siree! The good doctor uses them and other effects as digital
alchemy. As if this were not enough, he openly and generously offers
his expertise freely to help us all learn. His Hands On section is
a place that were it not in cyberspace would be tattered and dogeared from
all the thumbing through it. Enter at your own risk, because it will
be hours before you leave.
The
Indigo Realm is an enchantingly beautiful site created by an
equally enchanting and beautiful artist. Her use of color
and Texture will leave you envious and wanting more. There
are many facets to this site just as there are many facets to its
Creatrix, and I encourage you to explore them all. If you have a
love of beauty, art, and fantasy, then you shall not leave disappointed.
Now if I could only find a way to lift her background and transform
it into a cloak. . .
I shall always have a fondness for this place. . .back
in the good old telnet days, I would telnet in from my home in the outback
of America: Wyoming. There were an estimated 2-3,000 people frequenting at
what that time was akin to a cross between the Times Square and Greenwich
Village of the Internet (which we thought was crowded with several hundred
thousand people!). These were close to the days when Archie, Veronica, and
Gopher were the lifelines for information. Imagine the wonder when
HTML hit the scene. "You mean we can have bold, and color with our text??!!"
Today there are approximately 30,000 denizens of the Undernet. If you are
not familiar with mIRC, this would be the place to discover it. For those
of you who, too, traveled the many paths down under the net, you may remember
me as LaMorgana or my alter ego, DrBombay. I also was involved in starting
the first online Psychology site (yes, way before AOL's) on the Undernet
called #PsychTutor. It was conceived of and put into place by
_RadaR_.
"How can
I call attention to it?". . .and other hilarious, sadly true illustrations
of real wedding gowns. I stumbled on this site after yet another long,
frustrating day of searching for the "perfect" wedding gown. One look
and I was laughing so hard that my sides hurt! Prepare yourself for
topics such as "Sleeves Bigger Than My Head," "There Are Fins Just Like That
On A 62 Buick," "Don't Wear This Unless You Are Really Doris Day,"
and on and on and on. The site is called,
And
The Bride Wore. . . The creator of the site, Dave Heaton, states, "While
preparing for her own wedding, a dear friend stumbled upon examples of strange,
odd, and unflattering wedding accessories. She kept the strangest of the
lot, and I am presenting them here, along with her comments." I have no idea
who his friend is, but she no doubt does stand up comedy.
